Nuria continues to encourage Flamenco enthusiasts with new steps and music, while studying the romance and flair of the great Spanish flamenco tradition.

Flamenco is one of Spain's most beloved arts. The class focuses upon syncopated Zapateado footwork and intricate Braceo hand gestures, as well as the nanaty of rhythm, the compas, for each dance.

But let us not forget the Classical Spanish instrument of a good dancer. Flamenco allows us to be at the same time both dancer and musician, using orchestral masterpieces like Albeinz Granadas and many more. This year, The Academy will incorporate this type of Spanish dance in the Flamenco class time.

Flamenco has been wonderfully received at Community events where students have performed during the year.

Nuria's passion for Flamenco dance and performance was inspired and rekindled during the Summer 2002, when she returned to Madrid to attend the Amor de Dios Flamenco School of Dance.

Some of the artists she studied with in Madrid are: Maria Magdalena, Antonio Reyes, La Truca, Carmen Greco and Paco Romero. Following her stay in Madrid she studied at the International Dance Center - Carmen de las Cuevas in Granada, where she studied with Adrian Sanchez & Fatima Flores.

In June 2005, Nuria studied flamenco technique and choreography for a month with the Taller Flamenco, in Sevilla, under the instruction of Felipe Mato, Marcos Vargas, and Lordes Recio.
